Bluebonnets and Boys

Look at me, two posts in one day, lookout blogworld, here I come. Anyway, I wanted to take pictures of the boys in the bluebonnets, and they are finally out, so I thought, a few quick pictures, then play at the park. Good plan, right? Well, they were so uninterested it was not even funny. Then when we got there, there were bees in the flowers, not near us, just in the flowers, so they didn't want to go near them. I had to carry Ryan in, peel him off my leg and set him in the flowers, and even then, he wouldn't look at me. I actually think the cutest one is of their backs to me, looking at the big patch of flowers. Oh well, maybe one day they will cooperate and I will get the perfect bluebonnet picture, of course whenever that day comes, we probably won't live in Texas anymore, sigh.

Just so you know

If your three year old takes a purple marker and colors all over his face, and you wipe and wipe, and scrub and scrub, and it still won't come off, the next day at his school will be picture day. Just thought you all should know.

Jump Around, Jump Around

Happy Easter (2 days late) and Happy Birthday Ryan!! He will 3 this week. So this weekend we had one big festivity and celebrated Ryan's birthday and Easter in the same weekend in Dallas with my parents. What started as an idea for a low key birthday party, turned into an extravaganza, no kidding. We spent Friday shopping for the big event and then preparing the food. Then Saturday morning, bright and early, we got up to finish getting everything ready. The party was great. The kids had so much fun!! We got a bounce house and the guy came and put it up about an hour before the party started, the kids didn't get out of it until after the party started, and by then, they were soooo tired already. Brandon asked me when the party was going to be over because he wanted to rest. We ate tons of food, my sister spent an hour making pigs in blankets, I think 5 pounds of them to be exact, and we had the world's most giant cookie cake, (I told you it was an extravaganza). That night the kids were so tired, we just all sat around until they went to bed, then the adults had a big Nintendo Wii party. That thing is so fun (my arm still hurts a little from playing tennis, yes, I am in that bad of shape).

The next day was easter and we had church in the morning, and then a great lunch at my parents house. Then we headed for home. We are all still recovering from all the activity, but it was so fun to see so many friends, watch my boys jump until they could jump no more, and be with my family. Happy Easter and Happy Birthday sweet Ryan!

Rodeo Do-Do

I don't know what that means, but the boys kept saying it. Today we took our annual trip to the Rodeo!! No, we aren't cowboys, but we love the Rodeo...The animals, the fried food, the carnival, the public. It is so entertaining! We started out in the petting area, and much to our surprise, the boys did very well, they fed the animals, they didn't run away screaming, Ryan at one point had about 5 goats around him (he was the goat whisperer). Brandon fed the miniature pony and pet a turtle and fed many, many goats. Then we went to the carnival and to help ourselves to some delicious grease on a stick otherwise known as the corndog. We had a moment of panic when we realized, the corndog batter had cinnamon in it (what?? who puts cinnamon into corndog batter). Fortunately, they were too hot for the boys to eat, so Brandon had not taken a bite of it yet. I am pretty sure puffy lips and eyes swollen shut would have put a damper on the festivities. We ended up getting him some pizza instead, and even though I only asked for a piece, they gave me enough pizza to feed most everyone at the rodeo, everything is bigger here. After getting our fill of fat, we let the boys go on a few rides. They had a ball riding the trucks, but then Ryan decided he wanted to go on the giant slide. We agreed, and I am not sure why, he always gets scared when we get to the top of those things, but there we were with no choice but to slide down, especially when a "carnie" is pushing you down. He cried, and cried, and cried. When we asked him what his favorite thing of the day was he said, "We walked up the very big slide, and I not like it." So we know what his least favorite thing of the day was. After that we looked at a few more animals before calling it quits. It was a great day!

It's Official!!

WE ARE DTV! I got the email that our papers are on a plane (I hope they aren't scared :) On the way to Vietnam!! So our official date is March 14, 2008!! I love having a date, that is so cool. Please pray that the wait goes by quickly and that a sweet baby girl is waiting for us when all is said and done. I am so excited!!

A little Excitement

So our lives got a little more exciting yesterday, maybe a little too exciting. I left early in the morning to go to work and left the kids with my dear friend Amy, well she called me about 2 hours later to let me know that Brandon was throwing up everywhere and what should she do. I really don't think any person should have to be subjected to puke that doesn't belong to a direct family member, so I feel so bad that this happened on the one day this month that she was keeping them for me. Anyway, Chris came home from work and stayed home with the boys for the day. He does not like illness, he is scared of the kids when they are sick, but everyone was alive when I got home from work, and he was tired, but no worse for wear.
Also, according to our agency, our dossier is going to Vietnam TODAY!! I can't believe it!! I really can't believe it actually took 6 months to get the thing together, but it did. Anyway, it is finally totally out of our hands, and will be on a plane to Vietnam TODAY!!! When I get the email that it officially left the building, I will let everyone know. Please continue to pray for the situation over there, it really seems like 2 steps forward, 3 steps back lately. I really want adoptions to continue from there, there are so many children who need families.
Oh, did I mention our dossier was going to Vietnam, TODAY!!

Hmmmm

Wow, this has become the most boring blog ever. I need to go back to Ecuador so that I have something to talk about. Well, no new news on the adoption front. We are waiting for our documents to come back from the consulate and then our agency can send them to Vietnam. We should get logged in over there pretty quickly as our agency has not sent any dossiers in several months. Referrals are happening for our agency at a pretty quick pace, so that is encouraging. The boys are recovering from being away from their parents for a week. They had a little trouble adjusting, they thought every time we left the house, we were never coming back, so they never wanted to leave the house. I think they are pretty settled that things are back to normal, so hopefully the drama of leaving to go to the grocery store will end this week. We are getting a new drier this morning. Woohoo! Ours gave up about 3 months ago and I have been in denial that we needed a new one, aren't those things supposed to last forever? But it will be nice to be able to do more than one load of laundry in a day because the drier can't stay on long enough to dry one load. So that is about it from our boring little world, I guess it is nice to be boring for a while, we can all use a break sometimes.

Home Again

So as not to keep you all waiting any longer, I will let you know that we are home. You can now all go back to your normal lives and not worry about our blog anymore. :) We made it home yesterday after a very good flight that got in early, we breezed through customs, and were back at our house by 12:30 in the afternoon. The only catch was we had been awake since 2:30 in the morning, so we were all very, very tired. I have enjoyed sleeping in my bed again and not being afraid to brush my teeth with the water coming out of the faucet. The trip was wonderful, God worked in amazing ways, in spite of the difficult conditions, and illnesses among most of our group, rain, and fatigue, we did what we went to do....to let people know that there is a God who loves them who wants to have a relationship with them. We saw over 1300 people, a huge number in only 4 and a half days. We also had a lot of fun, it is good to laugh, to worship, to fellowship. The trip was hard, but I needed it. Anyway, thanks for all of your prayers and positive thoughts during the week, now back to our regularly scheduled posts regarding my kids, family, and adoption.
